The Anglo-Indian community developed a distinctive culture that blended Indian and European influences.

Language

English became the primary language of the community and remains an important marker of Anglo-Indian identity. At the same time, many Anglo-Indians also spoke local languages such as:

depending on the region where they lived.

Religion

The vast majority of Anglo-Indians are Christians.

Churches have long served as centers of spiritual life, community gatherings, and cultural preservation.

Family and Community Life

Family remains central to Anglo-Indian culture. Weddings, baptisms, Christmas celebrations, Easter gatherings, and community dances continue to play an important role in maintaining social bonds.

Traditional social events often include:

  • School alumni gatherings
  • Church festivals

Music has also been an important cultural element, with Anglo-Indians making notable contributions to jazz, rock, Western classical music, and popular entertainment in India.
